Kaptivate is excited to partner with the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) to launch a groundbreaking crowdsourcing campaign. The campaign will focus on amplifying the voices of individuals with disabilities and their families. NCSER is part of the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the independent, and nonpartisan statistics, research, and evaluation arm of the U.S. Department of Education. Its mission is to root education practice and policy in scientific evidence and to share this information in formats that are useful and accessible to educators, parents, policymakers, researchers and the public.
Because the U.S. is quickly approaching the 50-year anniversary of the first federal legislation to protect the education of students with disabilities (Public Law 94-142), this initiative is well-timed to understand how effectively special education is serving the needs of students with disabilities and their families. Kaptivate will work closely with NCSER to design and implement a survey gathering insights that reflect the real-world challenges and pressing needs within special education. This work will also raise awareness about NCSER's impactful research, which has spanned nearly 20 years, yet remains under-recognized outside the field of educational research.
As part of our role, Kaptivate will engage key stakeholders, including nonprofits, education associations, and organizations that support students with disabilities to broaden NCSER’s reach. We look forward to fostering meaningful conversations, identifying opportunities for public engagement, and building strategic partnerships to ensure that the perspectives of students and families are at the forefront of special education research and policy.
