To address this, Kaptivate created CFC MarketingU—an online learning program that helps charities build the skills they need to succeed in federal campaigns.
Hosted in a cloud-based learning management system (LMS), the program included:
- Self-paced courses with short, engaging lessons.
- Live and recorded Q&A sessions to answer questions before each campaign season.
- Digital badges to mark progress and motivate users.
- Train-the-trainer tools so staff could share what they learned with their teams.
The learning experience was built for all users. We worked to ensure the training was accessible, localized to their geographic context, and not dependent on any prior experience. We also gathered regular feedback to improve the training and make sure it stayed relevant. Each session included clear learning goals, interactive features, and examples from successful campaigns. We provided regular open office hours for charities to answer questions from charity representatives and get them fully equipped to tackle CFC activities.
Kaptivate continuously improved the learning experience through an integrated feedback and performance loop:
- Post-session evaluations (live, virtual, and asynchronous) informed content updates and delivery refinements.
- Training effectiveness was assessed through participant feedback, mastery assessments, and fundraising performance data.
- VIPs and Subject Matter Experts from the public and private sectors were engaged to enrich the curriculum with strategic insights.
Impact
CFC MarketingU became a national success story. Charities that participated in the training program raised 250% more than their non-participating peers. The learning platform facilitated consistent training delivery across the country and ensured a standardized onboarding process for each campaign season.
