CTE CHIPS Challenge

CTE CHIPS Challenge Connects Students to High-Demand Jobs

In 2024, Kaptivate helped launch the U.S. Department of Education’s CTE CHIPS Challenge, a prize challenge aimed at expanding student recruitment, training, and placement strategies in semiconductor fabrication (fab) construction and advanced manufacturing careers. In Phase 2 of the Challenge, we provided technical assistance to semi-finalists, where they participated in a dynamic community of practice, and further developed their plans to connect students with high-demand careers.

Overview

In support of national Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiatives, a leading public-sector client sought to increase awareness and support for programs that connect youth to real-world career pathways. The challenge: turn a policy-heavy, often overlooked subject into a compelling, relatable narrative that could resonate with students, families, educators, and employers.

Solution

Kaptivate developed and executed a multi-platform campaign strategy that:

  • Elevated success stories from students and teachers participating in CTE programs.

  • Humanized data by pairing statistics with lived experiences.

  • Created content tailored to diverse audiences, including students, parents, and community stakeholders.

  • Positioned CTE as a modern, future-forward choice for learners seeking practical, purpose-driven careers.

Using our deep expertise in visual storytelling, content design, and audience engagement, Kaptivate helped reshape the public narrative around CTE. From video case studies and social media assets to web features and digital toolkits, every element was designed to inspire action and pride in non-traditional career pathways.

By focusing on authenticity, accessibility, and aspirational design, Kaptivate turned a complex educational policy space into a movement people could rally behind. The campaign not only supported recruitment efforts but also elevated the perception of CTE as a vital force in preparing the next generation of changemakers.
