The Office of Minority Broadband Initiatives (OMBI) has selected Kaptivate to help write its second annual report. This report, mandated by the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA), highlights the achievements of OMBI in expanding high-speed Internet access in minority communities. Kaptivate recently supported OMBI's parent organization, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), draft The 2022 Federal Broadband Funding Report: Investing in Internet for All.
Through its Connecting Minority Communities (CMC) grant program, OMBI plays a vital role in promoting equitable broadband access at anchor institutions. In turn, these institutions --Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)--serve as economic catalysts for expanding high-speed Internet services for their local communities.

Kaptivate's CEO, Ron Vassallo, celebrated the announcement, remarking, "We're thrilled to help tell the OMBI story. It's an exciting data storytelling opportunity to weave data, data visualizations, and narrative into stories of economic impact. Beyond the data, we'll also share how these colleges battle to overcome barriers and prepare tomorrow's workforce. It's a story of federal investment in the future of work and American economic vibrancy that Kaptivate narrates with aplomb."

Digital empowerment of minority communities is the OMBI mission. Kaptivate will tell the story of the mission's progress and its impact on anchor communities and across the nation.
