February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to recognize programs that equip students with real-world skills for in-demand careers. At Kaptivate, we are proud to support workforce development initiatives that connect students with career opportunities, from direct work with students to supporting our client’s CTE and work-based learning (WBL) initiatives.
Empowering Students Through Internship Opportunities
Learning by doing is key to preparing students for the workforce. Through Kaptivate’s high school and college intern program, we provide students with hands-on experience in marketing, event planning, project management, and data analysis. Our interns gain valuable workplace skills, build professional networks, and contribute meaningfully to our work. Interns collaborate with our staff in person and through remote opportunities on a variety of projects.
CTE CHIPS Challenge Connects Students to High-Demand Jobs
Last year, Kaptivate was excited to help launch the U.S. Department of Education’s CTE CHIPS Challenge, a federal prize challenge aimed at expanding student recruitment, training, and placement strategies in semiconductor fabrication (fab) construction and advanced manufacturing careers. In a few weeks, we will provide technical assistance to semi-finalists of this challenge, where they’ll participate in a dynamic community of practice, and further develop their plans to connect students with these high-demand careers.
Supporting the Career Z Challenge with Work-Based Learning Interns
Kaptivate also plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. Department of Education’s Career Z Challenge, which promotes high-quality work-based learning WBL opportunities. Our WBL interns contribute to the challenge by assisting with outreach, engagement, and program implementation—helping schools and employers develop stronger career-connected learning experiences. Kaptivate’s WBL Interns served as emcees at the Career Z Challenge kickoff on a national technical assistance webinar. Having WBL students in the spotlight at these events showed our partners and participants that students can do anything! They can contribute in big and small ways, doing meaningful work while supporting overall project goals.
As we celebrate CTE Month, Kaptivate remains committed to expanding career pathways, fostering innovation, and building the future workforce.
